The Retired Certification Status is available for credential holders who are fully retired and no longer employed or actively working in their profession. It allows individuals to retain recognition of their credential while clearly indicating retired status.
How do I apply?
The application is available via the Certification Management Portal. A $50 application fee is required at the time of submission.
How should my credential be displayed once Retired status is granted?
Individuals granted Retired status must include the word “Retired” after their credential to distinguish it from Active status.
Example:
John Smith, CPHRM-Retired
Will I still appear on the list of credential holders?
No. The list of credential holders will include only those who hold an “Active” credential.
Is renewal required for Retired status?
Yes. Although renewal by continuing education or examination is waived, individuals must renew or re-attest every three years that they remain fully retired.
Can I return to Active status after retiring?
Yes, but a credential in Retired status can only be restored to Active status by taking and passing the corresponding certification exam again.
