To be eligible for the examination, you must meet ONE of the following requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, plus:
- three (3) years of associated healthcare resource and materials management* experience.
- Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university, plus:
- five (5) years of associated healthcare resource and materials management* experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent, plu:
- seven (7) years of associated healthcare resource and materials management* experience
*Associated healthcare resource and materials management includes persons who are involved in the
materials functions of healthcare facilities or are active in the healthcare materials supply chain, including
manufacturers, vendors, distributors, consultants, and employees of group purchasing organizations.
You are not required to submit any supporting documentation as proof of eligibility. However, you are strongly encouraged to thoroughly review the related examination content outline in the CMRP Candidate Handbook (content domains and tasks). The content outline represents the essential job tasks performed by a CMRP. These job tasks are the basis for the questions on the examination.
The content outline also allows candidates to determine whether they meet the eligibility requirements for the exam by comparing their experience with exam content domains and tasks. If you find there are gaps in your knowledge and skill, then additional experience and/or study may be necessary. The eligibility requirements are in place to ensure candidates are positioned to succeed on the examination.
